Following my previous post, we have set up a collection at the Archive of Our Own for stories from the site, which you can find here:

http://archiveofourown.org/collections/Scarlet_Seduction

If you wish to transfer your fic there from the old site, you will need an Archive of Our Own account. If you need an invite please drop a comment below. You will have to transfer your fic(s) yourself - unfortunately I can't do that for you if it's to appear with your name as author intact.

I'll leave the collection open for a month to give everyone time to transfer their fics if they wish. After that all posts will be moderated and the archive will be sealed.

Scarlet Seduction will close on 21st January. Thank you for all your support for redheads over the years! This community will remain open for anyone who wants to follow anything we might do in the future.

Hi folks -long time no post! Sorry about that - no sooner had I finished my PhD than [livejournal.com profile] gwendolynflight entered the heavy phase of hers, and we've both had rl drama to contend with, so we haven't had as much collaboration time as we'd have liked over the past couple of years.

Hopefully we'll write together again in the future, but for the meanwhile (and because we're both a bit skint) the Scarlet Seduction site will be coming down next month. We'll do our best to make sure the fiction hosted there is still available on the Internet, hopefully at AO3 as a special Collection - obviously dependent upon permission from contributors.

Thanks to everyone who supported us at Scarlet Seduction, especially those who contributed to the contests and festival. Keep the redhead love flowing strong!

In case you've missed it, there's a charity challenge up at the Seeing Red Festival, until 31st May.

You can help in three ways:

1) Write one or more stories for entry into the 'Big Red Challenge', to be launched on Red Nose Day itself, Friday 16th March, and post it on the Festival site. Stories should be on the fluffy rather than the deep-angst side, and include one or more redheads. (Dye jobs are acceptable.)

2) Read the stories as they're posted, and post encouraging feedback to spur the authors on to yet more writing.

3) (And this is where the cash comes in) If you enjoy the stories, and you have a little cash to spare, make a donation to Comic Relief. You will be able to do this at any time between Red Nose Day and the end of March, via the Seeing Red page on the Comic Relief web site or by Paypal.

For more details please visit the Seeing Red Festival site.

Please share this widely, and feel free to post the above verbatim in any communities where it is permissable and appropriate. Thanks. ^_^

The Seeing Red Festival archive is up and running again, all ready for the uploading and enjoyment of your stories.

Because of the site's downtime and a few personal issues, we've decided to extend the deadline for the Red Nose Day Charity Challenge until the end of May. We've already made over £250 for the charity - now's the time to upload all your new stories and link them to the challenge, and lets see if we can double that by the end of the month!

Finally, to the smut writers out there: if you're running short of inspiration, don't forget it's May, the Merry Month of Masturbation! Give your redheads a bit of solo fun and make some cash for charity at the same time. Everybody wins. ^_^

Read! Write! Review! - and raise money for charity.

Throughout March the Seeing Red Festival of Fanfiction will be raising money for the UK's Comic Relief charity. The charity holds huge events every other year to support projects in the UK and in Africa.

Wherever you are you can help with this year's fundraising, in three ways:

1) Write one or more stories for entry into the 'Big Red Challenge', to be launched on Red Nose Day itself, Friday 16th March, and post it on the Festival site.

2) Read the stories as they're posted, and post encouraging feedback to spur the authors on to yet more writing.

3) (And this is where the cash comes in) If you enjoy the stories, and you have a little cash to spare, make a donation to Comic Relief. You will be able to do this at any time between Red Nose Day and the end of March, via the Seeing Red page on the Comic Relief web site.

Guidance for Writers

Your story should fit the usual rules of the Seeing Red Festival of Fanfiction. It would be nice if they were lighthearted, or at least had a happy ending. We know that not everyone can write sparkling comedies, but we would prefer to avoid complete angst-fests in the spirit of the day. Give your red-heads a good time. :)

Stories can be any length at all, anything from a 100-word drabble to a fully-fledged epic. They don't have to be brand new, but we do ask that they haven't been posted anywhere before. You are very welcome to post them where you wish after the end of March, however.

You can start writing as soon (or as late!) as you like. On 16th March we will open a special challenge on the Seeing Red Festival site, and you will be able to upload your stories and link them to the challenge, so that visitors can easily find all the Big Red One fics in one go. Although it would be great if we could have as many fics as possible for the day itself, you will be able to continue to upload to the challenge right until the end of March.

What Happens Next?

Start generating ideas for your fic(s), and tell your friends! You might like to ask for sponsorship for the number of words you write, or you could ask friends to offer prompts for which you will write - providing they promise a donation. Or you might just like to keep the stress levels down, open up your notebook and see what happens! Whatever works for you - remember it's not startling quality we're looking for, it's just a bit of fun to raise some money for charity.

Feel free to use any of the images below to help spread the word. (Make sure you save them to your own computer, don't hotlink them here.)  There's also a little nose you can add to your own icons if you prefer. Watch this space for further info, or if you have any questions, please drop us a comment here and we'll do our best to answer them.

Read! Write! Review! And Have Fun. ^_^

We finally have time to work on the Charity CD project. If you submitted a contribution before we called hiatus on the project, you should recently have received an email from us asking for you to confirm that you still wished your piece(s) to be included.

This post is for those of you who may have changed your email addresses in the intervening period. or for some other reason did not receive our message. If you have already replied to our e-mail, thank you very much!

If you still wish to take part, please email us (charitycd at scarletseduction dot info) confirming what you would like us to include. If we do not hear from you we will assume you no longer wish to be part of the project.

If you would still like to be involved but are having second thoughts about the material you gave us before, or would like to edit it, just let us know.

If you haven't contributed yet but would like to do so, look out for further announcements here and on our message list in the very near future!

With thanks for your continuing patience,

The Seeing Red: Festival of Fanfiction archive has just had an upgrade and a bit of a makeover. There are several new features to the site, including options to add livejournal and other links to members' profiles. We've also introduced a new 'non-fiction' category to include essays about writing, characters and other topics.

If you have any questions about the site or the Festival in general, please don't hesitate to ask. :)

We'll be announcing an exciting new challenge for the Festival soon, but meanwhile we are open for business, attending to all your redhead-related fanfiction needs!

Enjoy. ^_^

Due to an attack on the Seeing Red archive some of the settings were warped (apparently our little site has some kind of self-defence mechanism o.0;) so people may have had difficulty uploading fics.

It should be okay now, but if you have any difficulties with any aspect of the site, at any time, please let us know.

Things have been a bit quiet lately as we're both mired in academia at the moment, but please keep posting those fics, challenges and reviews! We will be back in January with new prize-challenges!

Thanks to the authors who entered our 'Do It Yourself' challenge mini-contest. All three entries were of a very high standard.

We are pleased to announce that the winner is [livejournal.com profile] blehmeh05 for 'Traffic'. Congratulations!

The challenge remains, even though the mini-contest is over, so it's not too late to respond. We are also almost at a point where we can resume the distribution of prize banners from the previous contest. Please bear with us just a little longer!

More mini-contests will be announced soon. Meanwhile keep reading, writing and reviewing!

We are pleased to announce our first mini-contest!

There is an exciting new challenge up on the Seeing Red Festival of Fanfiction site, in honour of Masturbation Month. Write your favourite redhead indulging in a little self-pleasuring action and help to celebrate the onanistic art in all its glory.

And better still, the best response to the 'Do It Yourself' challenge received by 9th June will receive a prize. Pop over to the challenges section of the Festival for details.

Time to get cracking, then!

We have added a new category to the Festival site, called 'Writing Craft'. We would like to collect articles here that will help Festival members to improve their writing.

Articles can be on any topic to do with writing: grammar, finding inspiration, structure and form, dialogue, anything you'd like to pass on to your fellow writers. Articles may be pitched at beginners, developing writers or the more experienced. They can be full-length articles or a few quick tips, even links to your favourite writing-lore sites - whatever you think might be helpful to other writers.

We will moderate the articles and edit them for grammar and readability if we see fit, but if we do edit rest assured we will make sure you're happy with the edited version before it's posted.

There will also be prizes in the Autumn for the most useful and popular articles! So share your favourite writing tips and best advice with us now. Just submit as you would a story, but choose 'Writing Craft' as the category. And be sure to keep an eye open for articles coming your way soon!

We now have 29 stories and 30 reviews in the archive - that's good but we need more!!! Write! Read! Review! And enjoy. :)

We would like to extend our apologies to those who are still awaiting their prize winning banners for the Seeing Red 2005 contest. It has come to our notice that vote-rigging may have taken place and thus we may have to readjust some placings.

At the present time we believe this only applies to one entry, in a runners-up position. However, to be fair we feel we should scrutinise all the voting logs to be certain that the contest results are fair.

Due to an associated incident we have also had to change the settings of the Festival so that only registered members may leave reviews and ratings.

To say we're pissed off about this is putting it mildly. We beg the patience of our honest winners while we're sorting it out, and will inform the affected parties as soon as we're sure what's happened.

If anyone wants to own up and withdraw their entry, that would make our life a whole lot easier, by the way.

There are already 16 stories up at the Festival site ready for reading and reviewing. Thanks to our early-bird authors for getting us off to a great start!

Of course we want loads, loads more. Beginners and expert writers alike are very welcome to join the site and upload their stories - if you have any problems just let us know.

Work on the Scarlet Seduction Charity CD has been rescheduled, and we have reopened submissions until the end of April, should anyone have any stories, pictures or AMVs to add.

Also, the Scarlet Seduction site has had a tidy up. Do let us know if you find any missing links or pages!
